Hard lessons (Lições difíceis)

Many times we go through very difficult situations in which we ask ourselves: how could God allow this to happen? A husband’s betrayal might be followed by a painful divorce and then the ex-husband goes on to marry again and live a perfect happy life, leaving us hurting and humiliated. Our friend commits a terrible mistake at work, which we advised against, and then we are fired because our friend gets along so much better with the boss… A child is kidnapped and molested while the perpetrator of this horrible act is never found. There are so many situations in which we believe that God is not paying attention or, worse yet, He doesn’t care at all…

However, all these problematic moments hold precious lessons for us. They teach us about humbleness, about not being judgmental, about perseverance, about falling down and starting again, about forgiveness. How could we learn about all of these things if we had a perfect life with no troubles at all? 

The difficulties that we face are obstacles put in our way to help us on our growing process. We might not like them, but they certainly strengthen our foundation and help us to see that there is a superior plan in place, of which we don’t know the rules. God doesn’t give us problems that we can’t deal with. He has faith in our abilities and, if He does, it is just another indicator that we should, as well, have faith in ourselves. 

Lições difíceis  

Muitas vezes passamos por situações muito difíceis, em que nos perguntamos: como Deus permitiu isso?  A traição do parceiro pode ser acompanhada por um divórcio doloroso e, em seguida, ele se casa novamente e vive uma vida perfeitamente feliz, deixando-nos machucadas e humilhadas. Nossa amiga comete um erro terrível no trabalho, que nós desaconselhamos, e nós somos demitidas porque nossa amiga se relaciona muito melhor com o chefe ... Uma criança é sequestrada e molestada enquanto o autor desse ato horrível nunca é encontrado. Há muitas situações em que achamos que Deus não está prestando atenção, ou, pior ainda, Ele não se importa conosco ...

No entanto, todos esses momentos problemáticos nos ensinam lições preciosas. Eles nos ensinam sobre humildade, a não sermos críticos, sobre perseverança, sobre cair e se levantar de novo, sobre o perdão. Como poderíamos aprender a respeito de todas essas coisas se tivéssemos uma vida perfeita, sem quaisquer problemas?

As dificuldades que enfrentamos são obstáculos colocados em nosso caminho para nos ajudar no nosso processo de crescimento. Podemos não gostar deles, mas eles certamente fortalecem os nossos alicerces e nos ajudam a entender que existe um plano superior, do qual não sabemos as regras. Deus não nos dá problemas com os quais não podemos lidar. Ele tem fé nas nossas capacidades e, se ele acredita em nós, isso é apenas mais um  indicador de que devemos, também, ter fé em nós mesmos.
